Manufacturing Engineering Intern

During the summer of 2021, I spent my time working at GE Gas Power in Greenville, SC. My main project involved creating a lean line for the power nozzle repair cell. While the majority of the facility focused on producing new gas turbines, I worked in the physically small yet large revenue section known as repairs. I talked with the operators to understand their daily jobs in order to understand how to improve their working conditions and increase productivity through the use of the lean ideology. By the end of my internship, the workshop was being redesigned and rearranged to help with the flow of the product, the power nozzles. Workstations were created to be simple and efficient for the operators. I was thrilled to be a part of such a large change and movement within GE.
